Five Point Four

How to stick to your New Year’s resolutions this year

We’re all guilty of making pretty extreme resolutions that we know we’ll never stick to beyond mid-January. It’s good to be optimistic, right? But wouldn’t it be awesome if you actually did achieve that goal you’ve been thinking about forever?

It is definitely possible and you CAN do it, so here are some tips to keep you on track:

Start small

If your ultimate goal is to be your healthiest possible self at the end of the year, start with small goals. If you want to be able to run a half marathon, start with short 3-5km tracks and build your way up from there. If you went from never running since high school to trying to combat 40 km straight away, you’re not going to make it and you’re probably going to be pretty disheartened which could lead you to give up then and there. Small goals = small wins. By starting with small, more realistic targets you are more likely to hit them and stay focused on the overall goal because you have been gradually progressing and succeeding as you go.

Sign up for a challenge

We’ve all heard about 4 or 8-week challenges, but there is a reason why they are so prevalent in the health industry and that is simply because they WORK. When you sign up for a challenge, you become accountable for your commitment and it gives you a tangible goal to work towards. You can read more about why challenges work here.

We recommend signing up for one of our 4 or 8-week challenges because we want you to stay motivated and smash your goals. Plus, there’s sweet benefits if you enter a challenge:

  • Your fourth box will be 50% off (for 4 and 8-week challenges)
  • Your eighth box will be FREE (for 8-week challenges)

Give one of our challenges a go and by the time it’s over you would have formed healthy habits and have tangible results – which will be all the motivation you need to keep on your health journey throughout the whole year.

Tell your friends

Similar to the above, if you tell your friends that you are doing a challenge you are going to be more accountable for your goals. They will help to keep you on track by reminding you of your goals, which can be a great way to stay motivated. Even better though, they might hear you’re doing a challenge and want to join it with you. If you’re going through it together, you won’t want to let the other done, which is a fantastic way to stay focused. Plus, you can have more fun with it when you’re experiencing it with a mate.

Help yourself

You already know it’s going to be challenging achieving your goal, but that’s what makes it so much more rewarding when you do. And although it’s going to be hard no matter what, you can make it easier for yourself to stay on track by ordering our ready-made meals. Having healthy meals stocked in your freezer is the best way to avoid the temptation to veer off course and buy takeaway. Plus, you will never have to worry about your macros or cleaning up so you can really stay focused on the end goal.

Or if you find waking up early to exercise is hard, try laying out all your workout gear the night before to make it easier in the morning. If you find it hard to really push yourself at the gym, sign up for some group classes. Figure out what is hindering your progress and try to work out creative ways that help to eliminate those little barriers – you might just surprise yourself!

Ask for help

There is absolutely no shame in asking for help when you need it, whether you need a mate to remind you of your goals, a new exercise routine from your PT or just a day to relax and recharge with a close friend. You can always contact our customer agents who can help you stay motivated and provide you with snack ideas, tips and tricks that will keep you focused (call 1300 343 656 or email
